Dry skin is a common skin condition
Definition
Dry skin,
also called xerosis, is a common problem. I know, I was born with eczema and dry skin from head to toe. Your skin needs moisture to stay smooth and supple, and retaining moisture becomes difficult when you have eczema. Our skin also looses moisture more readily in the winter.
The symptoms of dry skin include:
Scaling
Itching
Cracks in the skin
Common Causes & Advise :
-Bathing too frequently, especially with harsh soaps, may contribute to it. Your skin loses moisture and may crack and peel, or become irritated and inflamed. Modifying your bathing routine will help preserve your skin's moisture. Recommended soaps are natural home made soap. -Hydrate your dry skin with oil based moisturizers. The wrong moisturizing lotion can have the same effect. -And if you don't ex foliate your skin between your moisturizing session you will cause the same affect. -Don't wear clothing made of wool or polyester "scratchy" fabrics. Use cotton percale sheets on your bed. -Use a humidifier in your home during the central heating season. -Remember to keep drinking plenty of water and other liquids to keep your skin moist from the inside, too -Eczema is also a cause.
