Microdermabrasion applies a moderate yet aggressive type of abrasion method.

The main skin problems treated by these methods are sun-damaged skin, scars and skin pigmentation. The procedures are not very painful. It does not require the use of anesthetic agents. This particular treatment is medically used for scar revision and scar removal procedures. It works best with scars that are raised above the skin area; however, this method is less satisfactory with sunken scars.
